Grazing At Molesworth Station: work in progress (2)

Sadly, progress has been slow on what should be an attractive painting!

This has not been due to the subject matter at all but rather the busyness of life and, if I’m honest, a lack of discipline on my part in setting time aside to paint. It is easy to “get out of the habit” and my experience is that it takes some time to get back into the “groove” and to be reasonably confident in what I’m doing.

It is easy to make excuses behind the often quoted term “artists block” but the reality is that “true creation comes directly out of the process — from the blood, sweat and tears” — from getting in there and doing the work!! So, I need to get back in there and do the work!

In the next painting session (which I hope will be soon), I will start on painting in the horses. I hope that will kind of pull the painting together a bit and help to provide the inspiration to get on with finishing it.
